The Balm of Belonging

CONNECTION IS CRUCIAL FOR HEALTH, WELL-BEING AND GROWTH

Leaders in environment and climate work, whose jobs in the best of times can be challenging, may be especially stretched and stressed as Covid 19 spreads around the world. Every day brings new uncertainty, new worries and unexpected transitions. We worry about our jobs, we worry about the health of our loved ones, ourselves, and the planet. With most of the world working from home, many of us are also craving real social interaction. The negative impacts of social isolation and loneliness on people’s well-being are real, because being connected to others (and I would add, to nature) is a fundamental human need.

We see a vital need to strengthen ties among like-missioned leaders, and connect them to peers in whom they can confide, grow with and count on for support. That’s why we created Peer Pods for the Planet to provide facilitated conversations, coaching, support, resources and supportive relationships to help leaders address the challenges and uncertainties they face. Members delve into real-life challenges or goals, and peers ask honest, open questions and share insights and resources. Conversations are confidential, supportive, and center around goal setting, growth and action.

BENEFITS OF PEER COACHING AND LEARNING

Participants describe peer coaching as a safe space to get to know oneself better, to process and analyze problems, to try new ideas and approaches. A place where they feel validated, where their minds are opened to others’ perspectives. The deep, authentic bonds that often form can last for years. And right now, strong, supportive relationships are what we all need. Along with a place for gathering, where we can take a breath, take stock, and use this time to reflect on how we want to show up as leaders now. If you would like to learn more about the benefits of belonging to a peer pod, visit us here. The community of support you need, and that needs you, is waiting to welcome you.
